November 5, 2024, Silverton, CO – Five San Juan County nonprofits received a total of $10,500 in grants from the San Juan County Community Fund (SJCCF). This is the sixth year that the SJCCF was able to distribute grants, thanks to generous funding partners, Citizens State Bank and the Western Colorado Community Foundation/Dave and Mary Wood Fund.  Including this year’s grants, over $80,000 has been distributed from the fund. A steering committee comprised of local community leaders reviewed grant applications and awarded the funding.

The following organizations received funding for the 2024 grant cycle:

  • Silverton Creative District – General support
  • Silverton San Juan County Ambulance Association-Medical equipment upgrades
  • Silverton Singletrack Society-Baker’s Park Trail System
  • San Juan County Historical Society-New computers
  • Mountain Tour on Film Silverton

The San Juan County Community Fund was established as an endowed, permanent fund by local community leaders in San Juan County in 2018. SJCCF partners with the Western Colorado Community Foundation to build the endowment and distribute the earnings annually. Citizens State Bank is a founding donor and generous partner to the fund.

The Western Colorado Community Foundation serves seven counties in western Colorado, managing charitable funds for community good.  Currently, the Community Foundation manages over 330 charitable funds totaling $170 million in assets and awards over $6.6 million in grants and scholarships annually.
