In the last decade a new system of community wealth building has begun to emerge as a trend in both urban and rural parts of the country. Focused on people instead of buildings, with a blend of public, private, civic, and community leadership and capital. This bottom up approach involves building skills, growing entrepreneurship, increasing incomes and building assets.
Bruce Katz, co-author of the recently released report, Towards a New System of Community Wealth, will join us to discuss the shift from siloed community development toward multidisciplinary models and holistic investment strategies supportive of community wealth creation, with examples from the innovative organizations profiled.
Javier Alberto Soto, president and CEO of The Denver Foundation, and Paul Major, president and CEO of the Telluride Foundation, will moderate and share their perspectives on the work underway in urban and rural Colorado. There will be plenty of time at the end for your questions and comments.
