Bray Cares Foundation Campaign Raises $75,000 to ensure HomewardBound’s Weekend Shelter Program through 2025

GRAND JUNCTION, CO – October 29, 2025 – The Bray Cares Foundation announced today the successful conclusion of its emergency fundraising campaign for HomewardBound to re-open the nightly shelter as we head into winter.

The campaign, which launched just last Wednesday, generated an overwhelming outpouring of community support, fueled by a generous anonymous matching pledge.

The Bray Cares Foundation initiated the effort with a $20,000 challenge, aiming to raise $40,000. An anonymous donor quickly stepped forward, pledging to match every dollar raised by the community up to a total of $75,000. The Foundation successfully raised over $75,000 in just days, effectively doubling the final contribution to $150,000 thanks to the match.

“We are extremely grateful to everyone who stepped up so quickly to support this campaign and meet this moment for our less fortunate neighbors, especially as winter sets in,” said Kevin Bray on behalf of the Bray Cares Foundation. “The community response—from individuals, businesses, and organizations—was immediate and powerful. We are blessed to be able to serve our part in this through the foundation.”

This critical funding means that HomewardBound can avoid cutting weekend operations, ensuring that Grand Junction’s most vulnerable population has a safe, warm place to stay during the coldest months of the year. The funds are being delivered to HomewardBound this week to secure the program’s operations.

Bray Cares Foundation gratefully acknowledges the following individuals and businesses who supported the campaign:

  • Local business partners: FCI Constructors, HBA of Western Colorado and its members, Alpine Bank, Raven Plumbing & Heating, SHAW Construction, Chapparal West Inc, Builders First Source, BOA Builders, North Peak Construction, GJARA and Palisade Thrift
  • Employees and agents from within Bray Real Estate
  • Independent community donors
