Robert Ringstrand (1923-2020)

Grand Junction resident, Robert (“Ring”) Ringstrand passed away recently at the age of 97. Born and raised in Iowa, Ring lived in many different places throughout his career in electrical engineering and telecommunications but spent his final years
in western Colorado close to family. A photo of Ring as a young man exudes iconic Colorado. An early love of the outdoors would continue his whole life. Ring loved hiking, camping and boating, especially sailing. He camped often on the Grand Mesa and volunteered at the Colorado National Monument Visitor Center for many years.

A man of deep faith and generous spirit, Ring made provisions for an estate gift in the last year of his life. After consulting with his estate attorney on how best to fulfill his charitable intentions, Ring decided to establish the Ringstrand Family Fund with his three daughters named as donor advisors. Two of Ring’s daughters, Kristine Kampf and Anne Ringstrand, live here in Grand Junction and his daughter Karen Ringstrand visits frequently from Virginia.

Notes Kristine, “We are excited our dad made this gift. We’ve known about the Community Foundation and all the good work they do for years. It will be rewarding for me and my sisters to provide financial support to projects helping others in our community.” Ring’s community interests will be supported for many years to come, thanks to this generous legacy gift.
