GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) – The Community Food Bank in Grand Junction receives funding from the Western Colorado Community Foundation and Colorado Health Foundation to hire bilingual resource navigation staff to provide more services to help those in need in our community. This work has been helped bridge language barriers in addressing the food insecurity and resource assistance.
The CFB has been around since 1978, and started offering bilingual resource services towards the end of 2021. They have conducted more than three thousand resource navigation sessions with the help of the Bilingual Resource Navigation Program. Many have found help, regardless of their language, to obtain a referral for a service, access to food, or much needed help to climb out of a really bad spot. Some of the primary areas of need that program has helped with since its inception are SNAP, WIC, and other services through the QHN Community Resource Network.
