November 18, 2021 – Grand Junction, CO – Today, the Bray Cares Foundation awarded six nonprofit organizations a total of $35,000 in grant funding to address housing-related needs in Mesa County. The Bray Cares Foundation partners with the Western Colorado Community Foundation to raise funds and make grants annually to address this need. Now in its third year of funding, the Bray Cares Foundation has awarded $75,000 in total grants.

The following organizations received support through this year’s grant program:

  • Amos Supportive Housing Association; Valencia House supportive, sober recovery housing
  • Foster Alumni Mentors; Housing support for youth aging out of foster care
  • Grand Valley Catholic Outreach; Stop Eviction rental assistance program
  • Habitat for Humanity; Home Ownership Support
  • HomewardBound of the Grand Valley; Shelter night support for homeless individuals/families
  • Karis, Inc; Remodel and appliances for The House, youth homeless shelter

Serving the Grand Valley since 1946, Bray and Company established the Bray Cares Foundation to help address housing-related needs in Mesa County. Grant funding targets projects that provided emergency shelter and rent assistance; offering affordable housing and housing for those dealing with special needs; and those that focus on helping seniors and veterans stay in their homes.

“In our 75th year as a company, we set out to accomplish two goals: 1) Create an endowment to ensure the Bray Cares Foundation can continue its work indefinitely, and 2) Have 100% donation participation from our agents and staff. I am delighted to say we have achieved both,” says Robert Bray CEO of Bray and Company.

This year Bray and Company also expanded their selection committee to include staff and agents broadening Company guidance of the selection process. “As part of the selection committee, I gained an appreciation for what an asset WCCF is and what they bring to the table. They know these recipients, what they do in our community, and helped us to differentiate who will carry the Bray Cares mission forward,” says Bray and Company real estate agent, Desiree Garcia.
