GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) – Between June and August, D51 partnered with the Western Colorado Community Foundation (WCCF) to raise $100,000 for their Hold the Phone initiative.
The WCCF works with community-minded donors who share a connection with western Colorado. In this case, they raised money for different types of cell phone equipment for D51’s new cell phone policy.
Imagine a shoe holder, so something that hangs over the door or on the classroom wall, so students will drop their phones in the little slots as they come into class and then take then out when they leave.
Sarah Fuller, WCCF Program Officer
Fuller also tells WesternSlopeNow they raised money for lock boxes and Yondr Pouches, which are individual pouches each student receives to lock their phone inside until they use a special magnet to open it at the end of the school day.
