Planning for 2025 Year-end Giving!
It’s giving season!
As we approach the end of the year, our team at the Western Colorado Community Foundation is happy to help members of our community establish new charitable funds, make a donation, and award year-end grants to nonprofits.
Here are our tips for giving this year-end.
Grant Recommendations
If you would like your grants to make it to your favorite nonprofits before the year ends, please submit your grant requests by December 12 to allow ample processing and delivery time. We recommend using the online portal for easy granting. The first grants of 2026 will be processed the week of January 12th.
Open a New Fund
We’re here to help you open new donor-advised funds and other charitable investment accounts at any time. If you’d like to establish a new fund in this calendar year, we ask that you start the process before Monday, December 1. If you or your clients find yourselves in a special situation at the last minute, we will be available to assist on short notice.
Contributions Deadline
If you plan to contribute to a donor-advised fund or other charitable investment account at the Community Foundation and would like to qualify for a 2025 tax deduction, we must receive assets by Wednesday, Dec. 31. Use these important dates when contributing to Western Colorado Community Foundation:

| Stocks and Other Publicly Traded Securities |
To make a stock gift, please initiate the transfer by December 12 with your financial institution. This will help ensure that the stocks and other securities arrive to WCCF by December 31 since they can take some time to process. Some mutual funds can take up to six weeks to transfer so please plan accordingly. Please remember to notify the WCCF Development Team (970-243-3767) that a transfer is in progress. |
| Wire Transfers or ACH | For us to receive the cash by Wednesday, Dec. 31, we suggest initiating the transfer before Monday, Dec. 22, and taking your bank’s processing time into consideration. |
