The Western Colorado Community Foundation (WCCF) is celebrating 25 years of promoting local philanthropy and managing charitable endowments and legacy gifts for the community. As part of that celebration, the foundation plans to award 16 “surprise grants” to nonprofits, starting with the Grand Mesa Arts and Events Center (GMAEC) in Cedaredge.

The $2,500 award for GMAEC was given Monday afternoon and is intended to help cover the costs of materials and other expenses for GMAEC’s STEM Camp for youth this summer.

“Grand Mesa Arts and Education Center has done a terrific job in the community and continues to grow their educational offerings for youth,” Bill Welch, cofounder of the Surface Creek Community Fund, the sub-organization which operates under WCCF for the Surface Creek Valley.
