Our community foundation presented a $100,000 grant for a preventative diversion program called the Lighthouse Project.
The funding for this program was gifted through a generous grant from the Ferris Family Fund, a Donor Advised Fund, managed by our Community Foundation.
The program is a collaboration between the Mesa County District Attorney’s Juvenile Diversion program, District 51’s Truancy, Suspension and Expulsion staff, and Mesa County Partners.
The Lighthouse Project is located on the campus of CMU and is working with students in psychology, social work and counseling departments for program and mentoring support.
The Lighthouse project provides counseling and resources to divert youth away from the justice system once they’ve been charged with an offense, and works to provide youth at highest risk the opportunities and resources to change course before they start committing crimes.
We are grateful for our generous donors and the collaborative partnerships supporting this project.
