Funding Available

Donors of our Local Community Funds share a connection to the place they live and a commitment to make their community better. These areas do not have a community-wide funding vehicle like a United Way. The Western Colorado Community Foundation has partnered with West Elk Community Fund, Ouray County Community Fund, Surface Creek Community Fund, and San Juan County Community Fund to create such a vehicle. Each fund is also a permanent charitable endowment that distributes its earnings each year into the community and will continue for generations to come.
Applications for funding are now open and nonprofits are encouraged to apply for funding to the West Elk Community Fund, Ouray County Community Fund, Surface Creek Community Fund and San Juan County Community Fund, managed by the Western Colorado Community Foundation (WCCF). Eligible organizations must serve in the County’s of these local community funds, and be a 501c3 or other charitable entity (school, church, government). The deadline to apply is September 10. The local Community Fund steering committees will review applications and determine awards by late October 2021.
