Now 19 years old, our Community Foundation continues to grow and expand. 2015 was one of our best years ever in terms of growth in assets and impact with our grantmaking.
Our regional Community Foundation received $6.7 million in new donations from our generous donors, including several of our loyal founders who passed away and left charitable legacy gifts to benefit the community they lived in and called home.  We now manage$47.8 million in total assets.
Twelve new donor funds were established in 2015.  Six of these funds are new scholarships; our scholarship program continues to grow steadily.  Six of these new funds come from donors outside Mesa County, confirming our reputation as a community foundation serving all of western Colorado.
Another hallmark of 2015 was the impact we had on our communities through our grantmaking.  Almost $2.1 million was distributed in grants and scholarships – a 16% increase over the previous year and a record for us. A full 96% of our grant dollars benefit the people of western Colorado. For a complete list of 2015 grants, please visit ourwebsite.
Our steady growth, our funding of programs with impact and our investment in our students is due to the many generous and visionary donors that have chosen to invest in our communities and leave their mark through legacy gifts to our foundation.  Their generosity and desire to make a difference allows us to invest in and improve our western Colorado communities, now and for generations to come.
