Our Community Foundation was pleased to provide support for D51’s Girls in STEM event, bringing 50 female young women together to learn new skills and develop and present STEM-based projects. Some students designed a machine using an Edison robot to assist with trash clean up and keep people on designated trails while others designed a way to help children learn violin.  All students presented to a panel of STEM professionals about their designs. It was a day of teamwork, creativity and presentation and public speaking skills! Congratulations to Heidi Ragsdale, West Middle School science teacher and MESA Clubs Coordinator, and to all the young women who participated.  And thanks to the Lunch Lizard for providing lunch!  STEM initiatives and Lunch Lizard Summer Mobile Meals…WCCF’s leadership projects at work!
